Hello people, Welcome to my HUNGRY CROODS foodie Blog. this is the page which provides lot of info about making delicious food with easy steps but in healthy way and we are here to makes you confident about making any food items. so, today we will make South Indian traditional dish which makes you mouthwatering called Tamarind Rice also called Chitranna in Sanskrit and Pulihora in Telugu. Ok , lets get into it…,

INTRO  Pulihora, also known as Pulisoru, Pulinchoru, Puliyogare ,Ambad Baath , Kokum rice, or simply Tamarind rice, it’s not a common dish name , it has a separate food fan base especially in South Indian States like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.  Because of  it’s magical taste, which makes you feel refresh by activating your taste cells . Because this dish contains combination of flavors like sour, salt, spice, & bitter . Everyone is liking from Children to Adults and no one can hate this popular South-Indian Dish made with rice , tamarind and blend of spices  and Celebrated for its Vibrant flavor ,refreshing tanginess and ease of preparation. making it a many houses and Hindu festivals , functions , picnics and Journeys . because it is main attraction & most of the Indian people prefer  this dish  only for showing their devotional fidelity towards their tradition  . it is the Brand of south-Indian foods. making different ways like lemon rice , tamarind rice and more. mostly these two are trending in India.  So you can try and get this delicious blender .

Ok, lets begin with some INGREDIENTS before start it’s preparation

INGREDIENTS :  1.Rice (1 cup rice )

                             2.Tamarind (1/4 tamarind pulp , soak tamarind in warm water and extract the juice )

                             3.Redchilli (8)

                             4.Greenchilli (10)

                             5. Mustard Seeds (1/2 teaspoon)

                             6.Cashew (Roasted 1cup)

                             7.Fenugreek seeds (1/2 teaspoon)

                             8.cumin seeds (1/2 teaspoon)

                             9. Groundnuts (1cup)

                            10.black gram(1/2 teaspoon)

                            11.chana dal(1/6 teaspoon)

                            12.Curry leaves ( 10-12)

                            13.Asafetida (Hing)

                            14. cooking oil

                            15.Turmeric Powder (1/6teaspoon)

                            16. Salt 

                             17. Ginger (small pieces)

These ingredients are very important preparation of this tamarind rice but with in these the Hing called Asafetida plays a crucial role because it makes exposing of flavors with in the dish .

Ok , let’s make preparation with this ingredients step by step .

 

PREPARATION :   

Step 1 : the Tamarind should be soaked in water. make boiling the rice with turmeric powder . Once cooked the rice then spread rice on a plate to cool down slightly.  if using tamarind , soak a small ball of tamarind in warm water and extract the juice. you will need about 1/4 cup of tamarind extract .

Step 2 : turn on the stove , heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan. and add the mustard seeds , ginger pieces , cumin seeds, black gram , split chickpea lentils(chana dal)  once they splutter , add the groundnuts once they splutter wait for 5 min then add the Dried red chili & Green chili now Roast for 2min then add the curry leaves and Asafetida(Hing) and add Roasted cashew .now spice mix stir for a few seconds .

 

Add Tamarind Paste :

Add the Tamarind Juice Extract and let it cook for 5-10 minutes on medium flame heat until it thickness a bit.  here also add a 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder and mainly Salt for taste what necessary for it. after complete the tamarind juice mix , already boiled the rice , this spice with tamarind juice mix into rice and coated clearly and smoothly also ensuring is well coated with the tamarind paste and spice.

 

 

After coated the rice and spice mix then Garnish the what you desired for like Roasted Peanuts , Roasted Cashew  , Curry leaves , Roasted Groundnuts.
